NIH Funding Opportunities for Research Studies Using APIS

NIAAA and other NIH Institutes and Centers support impactful research on the effects of public policies on health-related behaviors and outcomes. APIS is designed to facilitate research on the effects and effectiveness of alcohol-related policies. Following is a partial list of Notices of Special Interest (NOSIs) and Funding Opportunity Announcements (FOAs) that may be suitable for research projects that use APIS policy information.

  • PAR-25-100: Pilot Health Services and Economic Research on the Treatment of Drug, Alcohol, and Tobacco Use Disorders (R34 Clinical Trial Optional)
  • RFA-DA-26-056: Accelerating the Pace of Substance Use Research Using Existing Data (R21 Clinical Trial Not Allowed)

  • PAR-26-001: Screening, Brief Intervention and Referral to Treatment or Prevention (SBIRT/P) for alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs (ATOD) use and misuse in adult populations that experience health disparities (R01, Clinical Trial Required)
